ALBANY, NY - CDPHP Cycle! reached an exciting milestone this November, surpassing 81,000 trips in its eighth season - a new record for the bikeshare! This year’s riding season broke the previous record of 80,377 trips in 2022, reflecting a national trend of growing ridership for bikeshare systems in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Since its inception in 2017, the system has seen over 371,800 trips across multiple communities in the Capital Region, becoming a vital part of the region's mobility network.
This success is made possible by support from Capital District Physicians' Health Plan, and technical partnerships across the region. Shared Mobility Inc. (SMI), in partnership with the Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) and Drop Mobility deployed more than 600 bikes, including over 200 e-bikes to meet the growing demand. 10 new stations were added to the system, along with a new user mobile app to make riding even easier.
Furthermore, on-street universal charging technology from re:Charge was deployed in Amsterdam NY. This groundbreaking infrastructure integration allows bikes to charge seamlessly at docking points, reducing operational challenges and ensuring greater availability of e-bikes for riders.
Steve Bratspis, SMI’s Operations Manager for CDPHP Cycle!, and his team worked tirelessly to make this year’s riding season a success, but it’s not done yet! Users have until December 13 to use CDPHP Cycle! before the system goes into hibernation for the winter.
