At Shared Mobility Inc. (SMI), we believe that mobility is essential to helping individuals achieve independence, especially for those reentering society after incarceration. That’s why we are excited to partner with Tomorrow’s Neighbors, a Carlisle-based nonprofit dedicated to supporting reentrants, through our donation of e-bikes for their new Ride 2 Work program.

Transportation can be one of the biggest hurdles reentrants face when rebuilding their lives. The Ride 2 Work program, launched by Tomorrow’s Neighbors, will allow participants to access e-bikes for commuting to work, attending appointments, and reaching other essential destinations. Through this partnership, we hope to make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals striving to reintegrate into their communities.

Kurt Danysh, Director of Tomorrow's Neighbors, had originally been searching for a van to assist residents of Cumberland House, a transitional living facility operated by the nonprofit. After discovering the benefits of e-bikes, he connected with me, Shane Paul, a Program Manager at SMI, to explore opportunities. We were thrilled to donate 15 electric bikes to help kickstart the Ride 2 Work program. By equipping reentrants with e-bikes, Tomorrow’s Neighbors can provide a reliable, cost-effective transportation solution allowing individuals to travel farther, faster, and more flexibly.

Although the Ride 2 Work program is still in its early stages, residents of Cumberland House have already begun to experience the benefits of the e-bikes. Participants have used them to commute to work and run errands more efficiently, saving time and energy. For residents who own cars, the e-bikes offer a great way to save on gas and reduce wear and tear on their vehicles.

As Danysh puts it, “It’s not just about getting from point A to point B – it’s about improving people’s lives holistically. The Ride 2 Work program helps people stay healthier, reduces stress, and makes their lives a little easier.”

At SMI, we are proud to support the Ride 2 Work initiative and are eager to see how it evolves. The program has the potential to expand beyond Cumberland House, reaching more reentrants in the community and helping them access new opportunities. This partnership is just one of the many ways Shared Mobility Inc. is working to create equitable transportation solutions.
