Shared Mobility seeks a Project Manager to join our team!

About our Team

Shared Mobility Inc. (SMI) is a nationally-focused nonprofit based in Buffalo that advances innovative transportation services through a shared-access mentality. SMI works to develop, deploy, operate, and grow shared mobility programs like bikeshare, e-bike libraries, and other innovative transportation options. 

 

SMI is the operator and parent nonprofit of Reddy Bikeshare and CDPHP Cycle! which consists of over 1,000 shared electric and standard e-bikes. SMI works with community-based organizations, private sector partners, and municipal leaders nationwide to help make the way people get around more equitable, efficient, and environmentally sustainable. 

 

Our Team culture promotes learning and innovation, through experiential processes. Many of the cutting edge initiatives that have been fostered by SMI have come directly from ideas of the staff. This job allows individuals to pursue their passions within the construct of the organizational vision.

Position Summary

The Project Manager will play two key roles, both forward facing and requiring a high level of organizational and effective communication skills:

 

Primary (approx.70%)

Assist in Project Management: One of the main responsibilities, along with project Team Members and partners, is to help execute the deliverables set forth in Project MOVER which is transitioning from the program development to operational deployment. Project MOVER, funded by NYSERDA, is an innovative program that contains three initiatives. This project encompasses around five communities in the Hudson Valley, involving both public and private partner agencies. More information can be found here.

 

Secondary (approx.30%)

SMI Communications/Content Support: Currently SMI, a Team of 20, does not have a dedicated position to support content development for work completed and accomplished. The content generated on behalf of the organization currently is developed from all members of staff, with no person to organize, refine and create. SMI is seeking an individual to help manage this role, with the potential of being forward facing at State and National conferences and steering committees. 

Job Responsibilities
  • Communicate with project stakeholders regarding policy, operations, and industry conditions surrounding electric micromobility and SMI’s program
     

  • Assist with responding to RFPs, grant applications, and other fundraising sources
     

  • Work with internal SMI Team Members and project partners to achieve goals 
     

  • Plan and facilitate meetings, ensuring effective communication 
     

  • Organize, coordinate and contribute content to SMI’s blog,  social media and other platforms 
     

  • Aid in improving professional documents intended for use with stakeholders
     

  • In State travel will be required approximately every other month

Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience OR a Master’s degree in public/nonprofit administration, urban planning, project management, communications or other related fields
     

  • A strong understanding, interest in and enthusiasm about shared transportation, mobility programs, planning and biking
     

  • Detail oriented, self-starting individual with the ability to work independently and with a team
     

  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to confidently support or lead presentations and engage in other activities with project partners and community stakeholders
     

  • Proficient in Google Drive and/or Microsoft Office Suite
     

  • Eagerness to learn in a dynamic work environment, particularly within an industry that values innovation and creative thinking
     

  • Skilled at maintaining professionalism when interacting with external partners

  • Salary range: $55,500 - $65,500 (based on candidate’s level of experience)
